Surinder is a new marketing graduate working for a large multinational company that has numerous well-known global brands. The company is working on a product launch and she is part of a newly-formed marketing team working on the branding. The team consists of six people with equal numbers of men and women. The team is geographically distant because the company wanted to ensure that there was cultural diversity in the branding strategy to address different populations globally. Meetings have to be done virtually across many time zones which has created some challenges, not to mention the fact that the meetings are held in English and everyone on the team is a non-native English speaker. During the first meeting, Zaheen appears to be looking down and knitting the entire time. Viktor talks far more than any other person and tries to be in charge of the meeting and the project. Surinder thinks he has some good ideas but unfortunately he does not seem open to listening to ideas from anyone else. Xinyi says very little in the first meeting but confides to Surinder via private message that she thinks the team should more or less duplicate a previous successful branding strategy. Rahul and Juan do not contribute many original ideas but they seem to generally agree with Viktor saying things such as "That sounds like a good idea". Surinder is already concerned about the viability of this team.
