How to respond to the following discussion - Spotify is a streaming service based in Sweden. It is most known for streaming music, but also supports podcasts and audiobooks. They offer various premium packages for single accounts, families, and students (which is something I definitely take advantage of). When researching their performance management approach, it seems to be pretty unique compared to what my expectations are from my employer. Spotify creates teams called "squads" that consists of no more than 8 people, and each squad is responsible for a specific operating or product area within the company. From there, each squad interacts with each other through "tribes" and "chapters". "Performance management at Spotify leverages its squad framework by requiring chapters to facilitate learning and competency development across squads" (Zavvy, 2024). Spotify's approach features: Continuous learning and development-Working through its unique framework, Spotify's system fosters continuous learning. It helps employees with individual career development and growth. Flexibility and autonomy-Using tools like Echo, Spotify empowers its people by giving them a high degree of flexibility and autonomy within squads. Holistic employee growth-Spotify's system goes beyond traditional performance metrics. It emphasizes mastery, achievement, and behavior as three key components of its people's performance.
