The FAST is an initial screening tool to help determine the function of a particular behavior. This tool does not involve direct observation; however, the results of the FAST can be used as the basis for direct observation. Based on the information filled out in the FAST form attached, score the FAST, specify the potential function of the behavior, and explain in a paragraph how the problem behavior is reinforced by the resulting function on the FAST. How to score the FAST:

1. Enter the number of items that were circled in the "Total" column.

2. Add items in the Total column, we will call this the "Grand Total". 3. Divide the Total for each column by the Grand Total and multiply that by 100 to get the percentage. 4. The highest percentage is the potential function of the behavior.
