Question: Refer to Exercise. In each part, specify the standard deviation of the sampling distribution of the difference in sample proportions.

Exercise: For each of the following situations, specify the mean of the sampling distribution of the difference in sample proportions:

a. The populations are male and female registered voters in the United States, and it is of interest to compare the proportions of males and females who are registered with the Democratic Party. Suppose that, in truth, 30% of men and 36% of women are registered Democrats. Random samples of 500 will be taken from each population.

b. The populations are adults with college degrees and adults without college degrees. It is of interest to compare the proportions that support the legalization of marijuana. Suppose that, in truth, 30% of those with college degrees support it, and 20% of those without college degrees support it. Random samples of 100 will be taken from each population.

c. The populations are left-handed and right-handed junior high school students. It is of interest to compare the proportions that have learned to play a musical instrument. Suppose that, in truth, 40% of both populations have learned to play a musical instrument. A random sample of 800 right-handed students and 200 left handed students will be taken.
