Alan Alan is 3 years old. He attends preschool. Alan goes not sit still for circle or story time. He gets up and walks around the room during those activities. He can work at a table alone for short periods of time ; but he does better with fairly consistent adult supervision. Alan does not talk very much. He puts words together in fairly simple syntax. He confuses some sounds, and has difficulty with the sound patterns of grammatical morphemes, such as past tense, but his speech is intelligible. He doesn't often choose to play with other children, but when he does, he gets along well.

Maggie Maggie is a 4th grader. She has several friends, and she loves sports. She does very well in math, but she struggles in her other classes. Often her as-signments do not reflect the teacher's instructions,
