PURPOSE: To provide you with an opportunity to explore and learn about an American workplace diversity issue/topic that is of interest to you. The issue/topic may not be a general overview of a diversity group that is presented in the textbook.
PROCESS:
Identify your issue/topic. This can be a specific issue/topic related to one of the 'diversity groups' presented in the textbook, e.g. millennial generation in the workplace, women on corporate Board of Directors, a profile of one or two female CEOs, flextime for male employees, forms of address [pronouns], women leaving the technology fields, etc. OR it may be one related to diversity within an industry, e.g. healthcare, sports, restaurant, military, agriculture, technology, etc. OR You can choose to do research related to diversity and organizational functions, e.g. marketing to specific diversity groups.
Conduct your research. You should draw from professional sources: electronic, newspapers, print, interviews, etc. You need to have at least 3sources.
Write your paper. You want to integrate your research findings in your own words to tell a coherent story about the issue/topic you selected. This is to be well written, polished paper - not a preliminary draft.
The paper is to be at least three single spaced pages - 1 inch margins with 11-12 point 'font' size. Must use Microsoft Word or Word compatible file. You must include a reference page [not part of the 3 page expectation] and cite appropriately in the paper. You may use any citation style you want to use.
Post your paper to the RESEARCH Dropbox and to your group's RESEARCH discussion board.
After posting your paper to the discussion board, read the submissions of others in your group. Discuss the papers with the members in your group.Discussion means asking questions, reading responses to your question, asking follow up questions, sharing thoughts about the issue/topic of the other team member's papers, sharing personal experiences related to the issue/topic, etc. Basically, you want to have a conversation just as you would in a face-to-face group.
By submitting the assignment, you are assuring that it is your own original work. Turn-it-in will be used.
