1.The total volume of a soil specimen is 120 cm3 and its total mass is 220g. Specimen porosity is 0.4 and specific gravity of solids is 2.66   Determine the following: (a) water content, (b) void ratio, (c) degree of saturation, and (d) dry density. 

2.A saturated soil has a void ratio of 0.7   Specific gravity of solids in this soil is 2.67      

Determine (a) the saturated unit weight, and (b) dry unit weight.  Use units of ft and lb.
