Introduction

Daniel Goleman, Ph.D., is an author, psychologist, and science journalist specializing in psychology and brain sciences. Goleman developed the argument that E.I. (emotional intelligence) can matter as much as I.Q. for workplace success, and for leadership effectiveness. Emotional intelligence does not mean being emotional. According to Goleman, E.I. means being skillful in the emotional and science realm. Goleman states that emotions are contagious. Recall a time in the workplace where this statement has or has not happened. Also, given what you have read this week in the textbook on perception and individual differences, discuss your reactions to Goleman's assertions.
