SPE 560 Behavior Change Procedures - Arizona State University
Purpose: The purpose of the Behavior Change Project is to extend your understanding of behavior-change procedures and their selection and implementation to real-world examples.
General Information
This project will involve you identifying a socially significant behavior, using the course readings to develop a behavior change project based on your selected example. The project will include the following elements: 1) target behavior, 2) intervention goal, 3) intervention selection and protocol, and 4) data analysis and recommendations.
Note: Do NOT use the intervention goal and intervention in this project for your actual clients unless approved by your supervisor.
Project Activities and Deliverables
Submission 1: Target Behavior
Deliverable: You will identify a learner and a target behavior, provide background information, and provide an operational definition of the target behavior.
Submission 2: Intervention Goal
Deliverable: You will generate the intervention goal and provide a rationale for the target behavior and the intervention goal.
Submission 3: Intervention Selection and Protocol
Deliverable:You will identify one or more behavior-change procedures that may improve the target behavior to meet the intervention goal and provide a rationale for your selection (the procedures should be based on the behavioral assessment results and their effects/behavioral principle). You will also submit an intervention protocol on how to implement the selected behavior-change procedures. The protocol must be detailed enough to be replicable (i.e., technical). In addition, you will also detail a plan to address treatment integrity.
Submission 4: Data Analysis and Recommendation
You will be provided with data and a figure - randomly - that depict the hypothetical effects (please note that the data and figure are random and may not align with the actual effects of the selected intervention). You will conduct a thorough visual analysis of the figure and describe the hypothetical results. Based on your results, you will make recommendations.
