In this manner, you will be able to understand and work to prevent these types of breaches from happening in your organization.

Search the Internet for news about security breaches in healthcare and other industries in the last three years. Choose one breach to summarize. Identify the principal threat in the case you choose and state what could have been done to minimize the threat. Consider the HIPAA Security Provisions. Which of the five categories do you think this breach fell into (Administrative, Physical, Technical safeguards, organizational requirements or policies, and procedures)?

A good resource for the latest breach information is: The Breach Portal from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. You can find out the names of the organizations and then do a separate search to learn more.
