Socorro is a contracted consultant as a brand and web designer. She has been contracted by a large client (XYZ Ltd.) as their main designer. Through initial discussions, she and her client came to a verbal agreement that her work would include branding, all image design work, photography, website designs and content. She has provided them with excellent work, and just-in-time solutions to their panicked problems. She has been a loyal and hard-working supplier to the company for the past seven years.
Over the past few years, XYZ Ltd. faced significant growth and decided to hire an additional contractor to handle other design projects, allowing Socorro to comfortably continue her work with bigger projects. However, in slower times, some of Socorro's workload with the company was actually reduced by several hours each month. Concerned about her own needs, she was forced to seek additional clients, which reduced her availability for XYZ Ltd. As XYZ Ltd. grew, they hired additional staff who were not aware of the work that each graphic contractor was to complete. On occasion, Socorro was asked to solve issues that were caused by the other supplier, and Socorro felt obliged since she has been with the company for so long. Consequently, the new staff's expectations on turn-around time have been unreasonable. Socorro, willing to help, has put in extra hours of work without charging them. She is frustrated but worried that if she complains she will be let go, and currently, it is her main source of income.
