Ethics Issue 1-

You are the claims supervisor of XYZ Company reporting to the Regional Vice President of Claims at the same branch. On Tuesday morning, you learn that one of your staff, Bill, died the night before in a one-car accident. You go to pay your respects to Bill's wife and she asks you to please clean out her husband's desk and send her his personal items. She also asks you for help in filing for company benefits. You are aware that Bill had recently applied for a $200,000 life insurance policy through your company. In going through Bill's desk, you find a partiallycompleted suicide note signed by Bill and dated two days before the accident. What do you do and why?

Ethics Issue 2-

You are a senior property claims adjuster in a large regional office of a property-casualty company. You and other members of the claims staff recently were invited to the Regional VP's home for a cook out in honor of hard work after an arduous period adjusting after a hurricane. You had been to the home before which had been plainly appointed. During this visit you notice that there are a lot of new furnishings in the home, some of which are elegant art and pottery and fine oriental rugs. Some of the art and artwork you think appears to look very much like the original work you paid for after a tornado went through a wealthy Houston neighborhood. The one oriental rug in the living room is exactly like the one you sent for salvage to be cleaned only a month before. What do you do and why?
