On January 1, 2019, DLC Company purchased equipment for $160,000. The equipment was assigned a $14,000 residual value and a 20-year
life. DLC Company will use the straight-line method to depreciate the equipment. On January 1, 2023, DLC Company spent $70,400 to overhaul the equipment. This capital expenditure resulted in DLC Company changing the life of the equipment from 20 years to 28 years and adjusting the residual value to be $3,200 at the end of the 28 years.
