For the color vision gene, the man's genotype is X N Y and the woman's is X n X n.
Here are some probabilites:
What is the chance that any son that the couple has will be color blind with a widow's peak? 1/2
If the couple has a child, what is the chance that it will be a daughter with a widow's peak? 1/4
Suppose the couple had a daughter with a normal color vision and a widow's peak. What is the chance that she is homozygous for both genes? 0
What is the chance that any daughter the couple has will be color blind with a straight hairline? 0

Can someone explain how these probabilities were determined? I know how to calculate probability with the multipilcation and addition rule, Punnett square, etc. I am being thrown off by the son and daughter concept. What is the best way to determine the probability without using a Punnett square?
