Your Microscope!s Condenser contains about $2000 worth of Optics that "condense" the Solid Cylinder of Light into a Solid Cone of Light that is projected onto the Specimen. The very last Adjustment you make during the Alignment of your Microscope is to "trim" this Solid Cone of Light. Why?

1. Trimming this Solid Cone of Light reduces Glare (which in Turn increases Contrast).
2. Trimming this Solid Cone of Light maximizes the Amount of Light that enters the Objective Lens (which in Turn increases Resolution).
3. Trimming this Solid Cone of Light places the Apex of the Solid Cone of Light directly on your Specimen and increases both Brightness and Resolution.
4. Trimming this Solid Cone of Light places the Apex of the Solid Cone of Light directly on your Specimen slightly decreases Brightness but increases Resolution.
