A current problem happening in society is the gender pay gap. This is a social problem from a structural-functional perspective because it affects the overall functioning of a society. It limits people's ability to access resources, which in turn affects the economy, the labor market, and overall social mobility. This is a social problem from a social-conflict perspective due to the inequality. The gender pay gap reflects power imbalances that exist between men and women. Women are often paid less than men for the same job, and they are more likely to be discriminated against or excluded from certain positions and opportunities. This is a social problem from a symbolic-interaction perspective because it reflects societal norms and values that are in place around gender roles. In many cultures, there is a belief that women should be caretakers and homemakers, while men should be the primary breadwinners. This belief is reflected in the gender pay gap.

Using the same issue as above (gender pay gap) create three research questions that could be used to study that topic. The first research question should be phrased using a positivist approach, the second should use an interpretive approach, and the third should use a critical approach.
