Question
Throughout this term you have been studying the social-ecological ecosystem and all the pieces that play a role, good and bad. Most of the examples that we discussed happened in other countries, in other habitats, or to other people. While those losses and interactions are worth paying attention to, we also need to acknowledge what is happening in our own backyard. What happens where we are is just as important as what is happening in the rainforest. This week, you are going to take a moment to see where you fall within your social-ecological framework. At what point do you make the most impact, good or bad? Have you contributed to deforestation, overpopulation, pollution, sustainability, management, reestablishment, etc. Explain your role and how this course has contributed to your understanding of it. What are your positive or negative impacts (no one is perfect!) and how will you adjust, maintain, or amplify your actions moving forward? Every person can make an impact, what will be yours?
