Three compounds formed from the elements iron(Fe) and oxygen(O) are decomposed and the weight ratio of iron to oxygen determined. The results are: Compound 1 = 3.49 g Fe/g O; Compound 2 = 2.62 g Fe/g O; Compound 3 = 2.33 g Fe/g O. Compound 1 has the formula FeO, what are the formulas of the other two compounds? Remember a formula (actually an empirical formula) is the smallest whole number ratio of atoms of each element in the compound.
