Foundation Learning Contract
Assignment Overview
The Foundation Learning Contract is a written agreement that includes the expectations of the teaching and learning, learning objectives, assigned tasks, operating procedures, due dates of task completion, and related comments on tasks completed between the site supervisor and you, the learner. The contract focuses on the learning and application of the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) 9 Core Competencies through the use of General Practices.
Assignment Description
You are responsible for presenting the learning contract to your site supervisor. You and your site supervisor will work collaboratively to complete the learning contract by negotiating tasks, procedures, learning opportunities, and due dates to achieve fulfillment of the practicum assignments, and evaluating your practice education performance.
Assignment Instructions
Complete the Foundation Learning Contract Template (linked in Resources) with the MSW site supervisor during the first week of the course. You will complete one learning contract that covers SWK5025 and SWK5026. This contract will show your skill development over 20 weeks of practice.
Please follow these instructions:
Review the Foundation Learning Contract and provided examples, linked in Resources.
Use the learning contract examples as a guide to develop your own skills specific to your agency
Create activities and tasks that will show your skill development and application of social work values, advanced generalist practice knowledge, and skills associated with each core competency and specialized practice.
Ensure that you show skill growth for each competency across both foundation practicum quarters.
Schedule specific dates on the contract that indicate when the activities and tasks will be completed.
Ensure your signature and your site supervisor signature are on the contract before submitting to the practicum faculty liaison in the courseroom.
Once you have successfully completed the learning contract, upload it in the Unit 1 assignment area. You must submit the Learning Contract in the assignment area to receive a grade for this assignment.
Once your faculty has approved your learning contract, they will provide you a grade and sign it.
Once approved by your practicum faculty, you will be required to upload the completed document into CORE ELMS.
Retain a copy of this learning contract for your record and review.
