They form, then storm, then norm, and finally perform, if all goes well. In the past the individual disciplines have tended to blame the performance gaps on other departments or specialties. They bring old baggage about both situational and interpersonal conflicts into the group process. The group has to confront these old problems and attitudes before it can set its own objectives and rules and become productive.
