Discussion preface:
After reviewing the weekly reading and viewing assignments, consider the following. The United States (US) is considered a wealthy, developed nation, and is known for the highest healthcare spending per capita. Yet, the US ranks lower than other countries with respect to infant mortality, maternal and infant care, chronic diseases, and more. Doctors are burdened by complex insurance and other reimbursement systems that are time-consuming and often reduce the time a provider can spend with their patients.
Would following a simpler, single-price healthcare system be more manageable? Or would some of the innovation and funding associated with a multi-tiered system disappear? Now imagine this, you are asked to advise our current president and his cabinet about focusing efforts on a single-price healthcare system.
Discussion Instructions: argue/debate (in a scholarly, respectful way) your assigned side by viewing this effort as beneficial/pro or harmful/con.
I'm doing a debate in my class please write about pro's and con's :
PRO side (your side is pro universal or one payer system - explain why this is beneficial to the current system)
CON approach (focus on the limitations of universal health or one payer system and why the current system is preferred). Be sure to include the who, why, where, what, and how of the strengths and weaknesses. Utilize support from the evidence and try to seek outside (non-assigned reading) sources. Please be detailed and cite sources thank you very much.
