Simultaneous batch production is used in a heat treating operation. The batch size that fits in the furnace at one time is 12 parts of a certain type. A total of 500 of these parts are to be heat treated. Loading of 12 parts into the furnace takes 3.0 min. Unloading time at the end of heat treatment is 1.5 min. The cycle time to heat treat each batch is 25 min. How many hours are required to process the 500 parts? (Assume the furnace has been heated to the proper temperature in advance of production).
