In conclusion, this research proposal addresses a significant issue in the healthcare system: the challenging transition from nursing school to professional practice for new graduate nurses, which often results in high turnover rates and potential negative impacts on patient care quality. Despite the existence of nurse residency programs (NRPs) aimed at easing this transition, there is a notable lack of empirical evidence on their effectiveness in improving quality care outcomes. By examining the relationship between NRPs and quality care outcomes, this study aims to fill a critical gap in the literature. The research question is well-formulated, specific, and directly aligned with the study's purpose, ensuring that the investigation will provide valuable insights into how NRPs can enhance nurse retention and patient care quality. This research is essential for informing healthcare policies and practices that support new graduate nurses and ultimately improve patient outcomes. A sufficiently large and representative sample size is essential to generalize the findings accurately, necessitating the inclusion of a diverse group of nurses from various residency programs. The tools used to measure quality care outcomes must be valid and reliable, encompassing standardized surveys, performance evaluations, and patient care metrics.
