The wound care nurse is caring for a patient with a chronic wound that has significant amount of drainage and maceration to peri-wound. What should be included in the plan of care for this wound?

Apply liquid film barrier to peri-wound followed by absorptive dressing with higher moisture evaporation transmission rate (MVTR). Apply moisture retentive dressing as the drainage will be retained, thus decreasing drainage contact to peri-wound and heal the skin maceration. Apply liquid film barrier to peri-wound followed by an occlusive dressing. Cover wound with gauze after protecting peri-wound with liquid barrier film.
