Students will consider and pinpoint their unique cultural identities. They will learn from this reflection that a person's cultural identity determines who they are. Students can promote children's formation of cultural identity by using a multicultural perspective once they have this understanding.

Part 1: Consider how your own cultural identity was formed.

1. Describe your cultural identity and mention the people or things that were important in fostering its growth.

2. Include whether or if developing your cultural identity presented any problems or difficulties.

Part 2: Consider the idea of personal culture.

1. Describe the significance of understanding your own cultural identity. Describe how your personal experiences in discovering your cultural identity might assist you in fostering a child's identity development.

2. For instance, if you had difficulties creating your own cultural identity, you may be better able to understand the difficulties young people are having creating their own.
