Many of you have heard the word Timbuktu before. Often, it references antiquity or rather a location that is far out of reach of US reality. But as you will find out from viewing this video, Timbuktu does exist and was a thriving economic and cultural center on the western part of the continent for quite a long time. Consider Timbuktu in this video in its historical context and then formulate four (4) questions about the key themes related to the significance of this piece of African history. Attempt to answer your questions by highlighting the major themes addressed in this video and why we in the west know so little of this historic African location.
