The biostatistician who designed a study for investigating the efficacy of a new medication was fired after the study. The tested null hypothesis states that the drug is no better than a placebo. The t-statistics that was obtained in the study of 400 subjects was t=20, rejecting the null hypothesis and showing that the drug has a beneficial effect. Why was management upset?
