So for our last question on WWZ, I want to come to Todd Waino. He is arguably the central character of the novel as his story spans several interviews, and he seems to be present at a lot of the most central moments of the story.
Why do you think Brooks uses him as the central character? Is it because he is very much akin to the story of the Greatest Generation, a citizen-soldier that has seen amazing things but is not a "hero"? Is it just a simple plot device to show the overall Shared Narrative of the novel? Why do you think Brooks focuses on Waino so much?
