Assignment BIM model
PURPOSE OF THE ASSESSMENT
This purpose of this task is to improve and assess the ability of students in working with leading authoring BIM tools and show the concept of 3D design. This assessment task addresses the following unit learning outcomes for this unit:
• ULO3: Apply basic knowledge of Building Information Modelling (BIM) and information management tools on construction projects.
• ULO2: Demonstrate the ability to create, collate, analyse, store and disseminate information for construction projects using appropriate tools.
REQUIREMENTS
Please find attached a 2D plan for a typical residential building. Your task will be preparing a 3D model and a drawing set of this building in Revit Architecture considering the requirements below.
1. Level 1 (ground level) view of the 3D model is identical to the attached plan.
2. Add necessary objects to complete a 3D model for the building. Essential elements:
roof, floor, walls, windows, doors, furniture and tags to describe each part of the model.
3. You need to upload several Revit families as necessary to create the model.
4. The height of all the walls is 3m and the surrounding walls should align with the edges of the floor.
5. You can select any reasonable type of objects in the model for necessary elements such as the roof.
6. The Revit model should be without errors (e.g. overlapping walls, walls on top of each other, detached walls and the roof, misleading material, naming convention, etc.).
7. All naming (including type and family names) to be reasonable and organised.
8. Marks will be allocated based on the level of detail and general quality of the completed model. General quality refers to the coherence of the model, use of reasonable materials, allocation and using proper tags for different areas of the model.
9. The submissions files are in Revit 2019 format alongside a PDF file:
10. The Revit file will include a reasonable drawing set of site plan, plans, elevations and sections, 3D views, etc.
11. The PDF file comprises the drawing set output mentioned above.
12. A rubric is provided for this task. Students are encouraged to use this in preparing their submission.
13. If any information is missing, please make a reasonable assumption or seek your
lecturer's help.
14. Students need to present their work and gain the confirmation of their progress at least in 2 seminar sessions.
