Aim of the Assessment
The aim of this assessment is for students to express, in a critical manner, IHRM knowledge, policies and practices in context of an MNC operating internationally and in a hospitality context. In addition, they should show a critical understanding of the principles and practices which influence the development and implementation of Human Resource Management (HRM) in international companies.
Thus students are expected to:

– Identify relevant data sources, and demonstrate competent quantitative or qualitative analytical skills that enable good analysis of the institutional and organisational environments influencing IHRM policies. In the written report, the analysis snould show how a major financial change has impacted on IHRM strategies at the head office or subsidiary level.
– Using a case analysis approach', select two IHRM functions ( e.g., talent management and employer branding ) evident at the HO and subsidiary level. Identify the problems and why they exist, using relevant theories and research to explain why the events are going on.
– Provide evidence-based recommendations on the reviewed IHRM matters.
– Give a 20-minute presentation.
– Demonstrate how the presentation and report questions are connected ( they are not the same questions).

Part 1 Group Presentation
During the start of the course, small student groups (maximum 4 members) will be formed. Each group will be responsible for presenting a case representing any 2 IHRM functions of an MNC company (e.g., global and talent management and Performance management systems ).
One of the core notions behind IHRM is that context matters and might impact on IHRM policies and practices at the global and local level. Therefore, groups should demonstrate in their presentation and understanding of the IHRM problem(s), their solutions and recommendation to the MNC. Specifically, groups should show in their presentations How the MNC is structured; how external and internal factors might shape HRM policies at the headquarters and a host; the MNC IHRM functions (e.g., diversity & talent management policy) and problems ; and the extent the headquarters' IHRM practice (e.g. Diversity &TM policy and practice) is or might be practiced in a host country.
Be resourceful in identifying the MNC; use internet sources, work placement networks, and knowledge you have gained through other modules.
The suggested length of the presentation is 20 minutes (no word count).
The purpose is to convey the key message through the presentation and research the case by using various sources.
After every presentation, the presenting group will receive feedback, both on the contents of the case and the presentation itself - the way in which the message is conveyed and the way the audience is involved and liveliness of the appearance. The discussion in class should help to identify the main problems and critically discuss possible recommendations to the organization management and other actors. After the feedback is received, a report will be written and submitted as group work (Part 1 of this assessment).
