Develop a spreadsheet application that will calculate the maximum deflection of a simply supported beam subjected to a fullspan uniformly distributed load w and a point load P at midspan. The allowable deflection is to be Span/x where x will be user input. Additionally, user input will be w, P, modulus of elasticity E, and moment of inertia I. Calculated deflection and allowable deflection are to be to 0.001 in. span lengths are to range from 10 ft to 30 ft in increments of 1 ft. Show a chart of the results that will display the relationship between calculated and allowable deflection at each value of span length. Use the spreadsheet to verify the solutions for Problems 1 and 2.
Problems 1Compute the maximum deflection of a 10-in.-by-14-in. simply supported solid rectangular redwood (S4S) beam. The span length is 15 ft and the beam is subjected to a uniformly distributed load of 1000 lb/ft. The allowable deflection is 1 300 of the span length. Is the beam satisfactory?
Problems 2A W12×30 structural steel beam is simply supported on a span of 12 ft. It is subjected to a uniformly distributed load of 675 lb/ft and a concentrated load of 14,000 lb at midspan. The allowable deflection is 1 360 of the span. Is the beam satisfactory?

Air at 25°C and 1 atm is flowing over a long flat plate with a velocity of 8 m/s. Determine the distance from the leading edge of the plate where the flow becomes turbulent, and the thickness of the boundary layer at that location.
what should the revolutions per minute and horsepower output of the prototype propeller be under dynamically similar conditions?
What is the amount of air mass that passes through a wind turbine swpet area per minute if the turbine has 42m long blades and the air flux is 8kg/m^2s ?
This shows that the equation ∇T = (δT/δx)e1→+(δT/δy)e2→ cannot be used as the analytical definition of the gradient because it gives different results in different coordinate systems
A Particle in a Cone A particle of mass m slides without friction inside an upside-down conical shell of semi vertical angle α, as shown in Figure 2.65.
If the overall heat-transfer coefficient is 300 W/m2 ·K, calculate the required heat-exchanger area.
Air at 100oF and 1 atm flows from a clothes dryer. According to the manufacturer, the 4-inch-diameter galvanized iron vent on the clothes dryer is not to contain more than 20 ft of pipe . Under these conditions, determine the air flow rate if the pre..
