Question: Use this space to give some tips in increasing healthy fats in your diet. For example... if you fry foods, try coconut (high heat) or olive oil (low heat)... try substituting ground tofu for beef... increase the legumes, beans, fish, seeds, avocados and nuts in your diet, etc. Let's see what works for you guys! There is some discrepancy over the previous villianization of saturated fats with new studies showing that natural occurring saturated fats may not be as bad as we thought (such as those in butter, meat and coconut oil). The media claims that they are actually NOT dangerous and are not linked to CVD disease, obesity and high blood fat levels like previously reported. Besides transfats, which our body does not need is there truly a bad food? Or is it really everything in moderation and the problems arise when we eat TO MUCH of any nutrient--along with special considerations for those with diseases and allergies etc) A) Should we believe this claim??? If you look at the media, you find arguments on both sides of the issue. (Watch the Nutrition Made Simple video to help you with the critical thinking needed here). B) I'd like to know your thoughts on this matter... including is there really one BAD macronutrient/food that is responsible for all of our diseases and poor health?
