Tommy is a 60-year-old male with a history of coronary artery disease. He just began attending an outpatient cardiac rehab facility for the management of his heart disease. His resting heart rate was 72 BPM and his resting blood pressure measurement was 130/80 mmHg. While getting his blood pressure measured during exercise, he was shocked and voiced concern when he was told his blood pressure was 162/82 mmHg and his heart rate was 125 BPM. After a 5-minute recovery, his blood pressure was measured at 124/76 mmHg with a heart rate of 76 BPM.

Question: Should Tommy be concerned about this fluctuation of blood pressure during and after exercise? Explain to Tommy the purpose of a higher blood pressure during exercise and why it may be lower post-exercise. (Hint: consider the body's needs during exercise).
