Consider the English/British government. At first, the colonies ran their own affairs and levy their own taxes. After the French and Indian War, Parliament decided to directly tax the colonies. As a result, the American colonists objected to them and eventually chose to rebel, because they felt their rights as British citizens were being violated.

Do you think the American colonists were justified in rebelling against the British government? Why?

Should they just have paid their taxes? Would it make sense since they were British citizens and had to obey their government?
