Project - The Disputed Bolt Flange

The Weld-Rite Company received an order from the XO Corporation to fabricate two of the units shown in figure below. The order stated, "Units will be assembled together by XO Corp. by means of ¾"-16 UNF-2 Hex. Hd. Bolts and nuts."

After the XO Corporation received the units, it returned them to the Weld-Rite Company, stating that they were defective and refused to pay for them. The Weld-Rite Company rechecked the units and found there were completely within the specified tolerances and filed a lawsuit to collect payment.
