Should the President be above the law? Proponents of what is known as the unitary executive theory state that the President can break the law if it is done in the name of national security. One example they point to is President Lincoln suspending habeus corpus during the civil war. Do you think that proponents of the unitary executive theory are correct or is it a dangerous view that could open up the Presidency to near dictatorial power?
