Problem: Sharon begins a daily workout regimen that includes both aerobic and anaerobic exercises to achieve the target weight she has calculated for herself. She uses a treadmill and stationary bike for the aerobic part of her workout and free weights and machine weights for the anaerobic portion. After about 4 weeks she is very dismayed that she has only lost 8 pounds and her BMI is 26.3. She cannot understand why she only lost this amount of weight when she has been doing what she feels is a rather rigorous workout. She goes and talks with a nutritionist for the team and explains the situation and her frustration. The nutritionist checks out her calculations for the BMI and target weight loss and everything seems appropriate. The nutritionist believes she knows what may be occurring. What do you believe the nutritionist may be considering in why there has not been further weight loss in Sharon's progress thus far? In terms of overall fitness, it seems that Sharon is emphasizing body weight. Should she be using a different set of goals other than body weight?
