Assignment:

The Cradle of Civilization and the Cradle of 3 Major World Religions Lies Here in NASWA

We must remember that all things developed by humans are impacted by the time, place and circumstances in which they began. Therefore, it is absolutely imperative that we view all things with a lens that takes this in to account. Things created by humans are inherently imperfect. Though Spirituality is part of the human mind, organized/institutional religion is a relatively modern development that coincides with the Agricultural Revolution (~12,000 years ago). This means that Religion as we experience it now was likely a necessity in organizing larger human groups in to a cohesive unit that could work together for the collective good beyond a small tribe or band of blood relations.

Organized Religion has proven, through history, to be a force that has an inherent Duality; for Example:

  • It Has Been the Source of Great Philanthropy: The Red Cross, Mother Theresa, Charitable Giving etc.
  • It Has Been the Source of Great Devastation: The Crusades, Genocides, Terrorism, Honor Killings etc.
  • It Acts to Create a Sense of Inclusion and Group Belonging, But,
  • It Acts to a Sense of Exclusion and Otherness for those not in the group or those who get expelled.

With all this in mind-we should reflect on Religious systems with an objective mind and an openness to the fact that each of the Religions of the World has a Positive Value that is also counterbalanced by its negative impacts.
