Some social issues may arise, for example: There may exist gender discrimination in mortgage interest rates. There may exist racial discrimination in mortgage interest rates. Discuss the findings by Cheng, Lin, and Liu (2011-JREFE) and Cheng, Lin, and Liu (2015-JREFE) related to these issues. As the 2007-2010 housing crisis developed, immigrants were blamed by the news media for the large increase in delinquencies, defaults, and foreclosures in the housing market, which triggered the financial and economic crisis.
