Scenario- You are the counselor of a female prison inmate who has been looking forward to a visit from her 10 year old child. It has been more than a year since she has seen her child, and she has been eagerly looking forward to the reunion. She just received news that the child was afraid to visit his mother in prison and did not want to go. The child's caretakers decided that they would not force the child to visit. The inmate's mother was overwhelmed with sadness over the situation. How would you handle these situations? What resources or tools would you give the inmate and/or the family?
