I think the media should be more engaged in the policy-making process for MCH. Policymaking is often seen as something done only at the government level and only by government officials with the help of rich people but that simply is not true. If social media and pop culture as a whole started to pay attention and get involved in advocating for policies, then there would be more pressure put on elected officials and politicians in general to act. Different media companies can choose to advocate for a variety of policies. I think the ones that would be most effective are ones relating to the morbidity and mortality rates of mothers and children because those would draw in the most public attention and outrage that could be channeled into real change. In addition to the media, I think healthcare should be more engaged in policymaking. Not due to a lack of trying on the health sector's part but policy makers often listen more to economic and social reasonings rather than the healthcare reasons for any MCH policies. If healthcare officials could get through to primary policymakers, then the health-related policies would be made with an eye for health instead of money or optics.
