James is a four-year-old boy with autism spectrum disorder who was recently placed in an early intervention program. His teachers complained that whenever he was in circle time, he would refuse to sit and run around the classroom. When the teachers would approach him to guide him back to circle time, he would hit, kick, and bite them. Eventually, the teachers stopped trying to get him to come to circle time and allow him to play with what he wanted.

a) What steps should be followed in a behaviour intervention plan for James?
