Assignment:

Some psychological literature argues that existential depression's unique nature may provide enlightenment and clarity as to the ways in which people can live authentic and fulfilling lives, as it arises from the philosophical qualities of the human psyche (Berra, 2019). Likewise, using an existential, or existential-philosophical approach can fortify the treatment of symptoms of depression and suicidality which are associated with issues related to freedom, isolation, meaning and purpose, and death. Treating existential depression should focus on enhancing the client's ability to live an authentic life alongside the existential dilemmas by becoming aware of the presence of the unknown, and moving away from denial or excessive intellectualization (Berra, 2019).

At what stage in therapy should a client's avoidance of uncomfortable existential thought be confronted?
