  1. This case study is based on shortness of breath. C.M. is a 69-year-old female who presents to the emergency department with shortness of breath.
    1. Subjective Data:
      1. PMH: HTN, hypothyroid
      2. Sudden onset shortness of breath
      3. Denies chest pain but reports chest tightness and cough
      4. Current smoker, 1 pack a day for 50 years
    2. Objective Data:
      1. Vital signs: T 37 C, P 92, R 18, BP 144/64
      2. Lungs: + inspirational wheeze upper and lower lobes, bilaterally
      3. O2 sat = 90%
      4. Skin cool to touch
      5. CV = heart rate regular, positive peripheral pulses
      6. Nose = + erythema, clear discharge
      7. Throat = erythema
    3. Medications:
      1. Metoprolol, 12.5 mg per day
      2. Synthroid, 0.50 mcg once per day
