Short-tandem repeat (STR) loci are similar to the Alu loci from your experiment 2. At STR loci, various alleles exist with different sequence lengths. While the Alu loci you examined have two different alleles (e.g.T+ vs T-), STR's can have several different alleles. For example, gene H could have alleles H1, H2, H3, H4, and H5, and gene K could have alleles K1, K2, and K3. (9 marks)

  1. a) How many genotypes can a given person have at the H locus?
  2. b) How many genotypes can a given person have at the K locus?
  3. c) How many genotypes can a given person have taking into account the H and K loci from this question plus the T and P loci from the lab?
