Question

A pregnant patient presents with vaginal itching and discharge. Sexually transmitted infection screening is positive for chlamydia. The patient reports she always gets a yeast infection after receiving antibiotics and requests the single pill that other providers have prescribed for yeast infection. The NP correctly tells the patient: Chlamydia is not a bacterial infection, so this is not relevant She will receive a prescription for azithromycin and a one-time dose of fluconazole Oral fluconazole is contraindicated in pregnancy, however topical therapies are available There is no safe treatment available for yeast infection in pregnancy.
