Question: Susan Booth is the director of operations for National Skyways, a small commuter airline with headquartersin Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Since airlines have started charging for checked baggage, National Skyways has seen in increase in carry-on luggage. She collected data concerning the number of pieces of baggage that were taken on board over a one-month period. The data collected are provided in the file Carryon.

a. Set up a control chart for the number of carry-on bags per day.

b. Is the process in a state of statistical control? Explain your answer.

c. Suppose that National Skyways' aircraft were full for each of the 30 days. Each Skyways aircraft holds 40 passengers. Describe the control chart you would use. Is it necessary that you use this latter alternative or is it just a preference? Explain your answer.
