Virtual Server Resource Case Study

Background

The biggest point of this case study is brought up later in chapter 18 when we'll discuss operating systems but to give us plenty of time over the course of this term we'll start it now.

A computer software application may exceed its capabilities at any point in time. We must
anticipate and manage this possibility otherwise the systems we support will not be reliable.

One commercial application from VMware is vRealize that can be used in conjunction with their virtual server infrastructure to mitigate such an issue here. This lab should prove beneficial to you and your classmates and help solidify key learning points this term.

Setup

After registered, find the SDDC labs on the left navigation pane

Then find the HOL-1701-USE-2 - vRealize Operations and vRealize Business: Optimize Compute Utilization lab

Instructions

Set plenty of time aside to complete the lab, preferably in a single session with no distractions. You will notice a number of questions presented to you. Answer as many of these questions as you are able to as a single new forum post response to this case study.

You may not be able to answer all questions presented to you so here is where your classmates who have also completed the case study can step in and assist with filling in these gaps for full comprehension.

You are also welcome to write up some personal observations about what you learned from the case study and post/reply to questions to your other classmates related to the case study as well.
