Set of Experience Knowledge Structure (SOEKS)

Set of Experience Knowledge Structure (SOEKS) is knowledge representation in an artificial system that would support discovering, adding, storing and sharing knowledge through experience in a similar way that humans DNA do. SOEKS is then later carried into the future by
Decisional DNA.

The structure of the SOEKS is adapted from the structure of DNA. There are four basic components: variables, functions, constraints and rules.

A Variable can be defined as a ‘cause and effect' system. Through a function of transformation, variables can be altered. Any decision making has variables values that can be altered for separate results. Within Sanin's 2007 thesis, it is said that people construct, arrange, single out and demolish knowledge by taking variables, inserting values and creating their own constructs. Therefore, variables are vital while specifying a knowledge structure. They are the starting point for the SOEKS. Variables are connected by relationships such as Functions. Functions represent relationships between a set of input variables and a dependent variable [5]. It is another part of the SOEKS
due to the fact it relates the variables and restricts the results obtained from those variables. Constraints reduce the possibilities in the system [Sanin Thesis, 2007]. They are regulations of possible solutions in an event and therefore limit the performance of a system.
Rules are relationships between a consequence and a condition connected by the statements IFTHEN-ELSE.

They are conditional relationships that govern the variables.

Combining these four basic components gives the following SOEKS structure:

Figure 2.1: Set of Experience Knowledge Structure

The combinations of the four nucleotides gives uniqueness to DNA just like the four components of the SOEKS [Sanin, 2007]. The variables are the base of the structure. Branching out are the functions, constraints and rules. The elements of the structure are connected among themselves much like a long straand of DNA.

The SOEKS has variables, functions, constraints and rules which represent a formal decision event. The SOEKS model adapts to existing available knowledge and adds new knowledge it acquires. Multiple Set of Experience (SOE) grouped together form decisional chromosomes which is the Decisional DNA of the system.
