Does the following discussion prove that a rabbi is a priest, not a shaman? Please explain.

In Conservative Judaism, the rabbi plays a crucial role in guiding and serving the community while upholding the principles and traditions of Conservative Judaism. Conservative Judaism is distinct as it is a denomination that seeks to balance Jewish tradition and modernity, in which the rabbi serves as an intermediary.

The primary duties and responsibilities of a rabbi in Conservative Judaism are:

Spiritual Leadership - Leading services, delivering sermons, and offering guidance on religious matters. They help congregants to connect with their faith and traditions.

Education and Teaching - Rabbis teach and educate community members on Jewish texts, history, and values. They often oversee religious schools and education programs.

Pastoral Care - Rabbis offer emotional and spiritual support to congregants during times of joy and sorrow. This can include weddings, funerals, and other transitions through life. Their counsel helps to provide comfort and guidance.

Halakhic Guidance - The rabbi interprets and applies Jewish law (halakha) to modern times. They help individuals to navigate ethical and legal dilemmas within the context of Jewish tradition.

I believe that a rabbi would be designated as a priest. A rabbi is expected to be a rabbi full-time and is supposed to take on their duties for life actively. They are also associated with formalized religious institutions and lead many aspects of the synagogue. Lastly, a rabbi is most certainly a representative of the Conservative Jewish community as they help to connect the community with their faith through services and many other ways, as previously described.
